Synopsis

For almost a century, Betty Boop has won hearts and inspired fans around the world with her trademark looks, voice, and style.

Now, in BOOP!, Betty’s dream of an ordinary day off from the super-celebrity in her black-and-white world leads to an extraordinary adventure of color, music, and love in New York City—one that reminds her and the world, ‘You are capable of amazing things.’ Boop-oop-a-doop!

History

A musical inspired by the cartoon character has been under development for many years. In 2004, Andrew Lippa mentioned his collaboration with David Lindsay-Abaire, following Jason Robert Brown who was earlier involved as the composer. Moreover, in 2008, there was an announcement that a Betty Boop musical was targeting a Broadway debut in the 2010-2011 season.

The latest production premiered in Chicago in 2023, running 19 November – 24 December.

Is The Betty Boop Musical coming to Broadway?

Rumour has it that Boop! The Musical is eyeing up a transfer to Broadway as part of the 2025 season, however, currently no theatre or dates have been officially announced.
