Sunday in the Park with George

Sunday in the Park with George revolves around the life of French Pointillist painter Georges Seurat and his struggle to complete his most famous painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.

Synopsis

The first act focuses on Seurat’s intense devotion to his art, which strains his relationship with his muse and lover, Dot.

The second act jumps forward to the 1980s, introducing Seurat’s fictional great-grandson, George, an artist facing his own creative challenges and questions about artistic integrity, innovation, and legacy.

The musical explores themes of obsession, the creative process, the need for connection, and the search for meaning in art and life.
