The Baker’s Wife

The Baker’s Wife follows the story of Aimable Castagnet, the middle-aged baker of a quaint village in France, and his young and beautiful wife Geneviève.

Synopsis

When Geneviève leaves Aimable for a handsome young shepherd, the baker becomes so heartbroken that he can no longer bake.

The villagers, who initially mocked Aimable, come to see the value of his kindness and wisdom.

They work together to bring Geneviève back, not for the sake of Aimable’s personal happiness, but for the communal need for his delicious bread.

The musical explores themes of love, fidelity, and the importance of community, all set to a memorable and touching score by Stephen Schwartz.
