Leicester’s Curve theatre in England is to present a brand new production of the cherished musical My Fair Lady.

Set to enchant audiences with the timeless music and lyrics by Lerner and Loewe, the production will run from 23 November 2024 to 4 January 2025.

Under the direction of Curve’s own Artistic Director, Nikolai Foster, renowned for his acclaimed works in Evita, A Chorus Line, and the award-winning Billy Elliot, this interpretation of My Fair Lady is expected to be a standout in the theatre’s lineup.

Originating as an adaptation of George Bernard Shaw’s 1913 play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady first captivated Broadway audiences in 1956 with Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews in the lead roles. Its appeal was further elevated by the Oscar-winning 1964 film adaptation starring Harrison and Audrey Hepburn.

Curve’s Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster said: “Lerner and Loewe’s music and lyrics, matched with the words and imaginative brio of George Bernard Shaw make My Fair Lady one of the finest musicals from the traditional canon.

“It’s a show we’ve wanted to present at Curve for many years and we are thrilled Christmas ‘24 will be made magical by Shaw’s glittering crew of eccentric characters and some of the most wonderful songs ever written for a musical comedy. And at the centre of it all is Eliza Doolittle, surely one of the most inspiring characters ever to have leapt from the imagination of a writer.

“It’s the perfect Curve Christmas show and we look forward to audiences being enchanted and electrified by this timeless story.”
